3 Ways Bing Is Ahead Of Google

After years or slogging with no apparent cracks in Google's path to dominance, it finally seems as though there is competition emerging...

VAS for Telcos - State of the Industry

Slides from my recent speech down in Mexico on value-added services / software as a service and carriers are uploaded below as JPGs (you can click on the slide and the next one will come up) and also here on Slideshare . Obviously not as scintillating without my live, color commentary, but still some interesting slides. If you want to hear the full story, let me know. The main premise being how critical applications are to changing the game with customers, as evidenced by the early screens of the hundreds of thousands of iPhone apps available for download. What is important is that not all of those apps matter - in fact only 1 matters - the one a customer uses. That one will hook them.

    Don't trust the train - #Amtrak #Fail

In the northeast corridor, it's well known that if you want to get somewhere, guaranteed, you take the train, not a plane. I can't tell you how many times US Airways has botched up a connector flight out of Philly. Well, this morning Amtrak certifies that they too can blow your travel plans. Train 2190 (Acela Express) stopped 10 minutes out of New Haven, CT. Then they came on the loudspeaker and blamed it on a red light on the track. Then it all went silent. For 1 hour. Until a new (regional) train stopped next to us and they invited us to get off and crowd on, finally admitting that the train was broken. A boo boo. Thanks to Preston the friendly rail guy with the funny hat.
